Pastry chef Damián Betular is preparing for his acting debut at the Teatro Coliseo, fully embodying the role of Edna Turnblad in the Argentine production of 'Hairspray,' the classic Broadway musical. Produced by Olga and Club Media, with general direction by Fer Dente, the chef will make his theater debut in May 2026. Without neglecting his profession, the pastry chef has been for months training in acting, singing, and dancing alongside the show's creative team. In just six months, Betular will bring to life one of Broadway's most beloved characters—a loving, fun, and tender mother who becomes the emotional heart of the story. 'Hairspray' is much more than a musical; it is a vibrant anthem to diversity, joy, and authenticity, successfully combining humor, emotion, and memorable songs to convey a message that remains as relevant as ever. With Fer Dente at the helm, the project promises a modern, colorful, and vibrant production, featuring a cast of leading figures from the Argentine musical theater who will perform iconic songs such as 'Good Morning Baltimore,' 'You Can’t Stop the Beat,' and 'Welcome to the 60’s.'
